ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE FINANCIAL YEAR July 2011- June 2012
1 School fee and
Scholastic Materials
As you are all aware that we have 25
orphans in (SUO) we were able to provide them with books and pens for the whole
year i.e three terms a year.
We bought 50 dozens of books per term at 270,000 Ugshs and 5 dozens of pens at 30,000 Ug shs. The total
cost was 900,000 Ug shs.
This project was funded by the
organization members through their contributions.
This project is an ongoing program.
2 Blood Donation
In March 2012, We mobilized
community members to come and donate blood to Uganda Transfusion services. This
project was carried out at our offices in Kyalusowe Masaka district. This
project was co funded by Uganda Blood Transfusion Services. SUO provided lunch for
both staffs of UBTS and SUO , We contributed 50,000 Ugshs towards transport and bought 2 pair of cells
for the public system at 2,400Ugshs. This project was a success because 147
people donated blood.
3 HIV Counseling and testing
In April, 2012, We held an HIV
counseling and testing project.
We held this project in partnership
with Uganda Cares which provided the testing kits, tents and transport. SUO
provided the venue, mobilization of the community members and lunch. We tested
547 people and 4 discordant couples. 18 people tested positive and were advised
to go for medication to Uganda Cares. This project costed 250,000 Ugshs
4 Hygiene and Sanitation
We always have walk in village activity whereby we went to
various households training people how to dig up rubbish bins, how to set up the plate stands,
and bush clearing around homes. We bought
3 hoes, 2 slashers,1 panga and 2 pairs of gumboots. The total cost of this
project is always been 200,000 and 250,000 Ugshs.
Financial Report
We were able
to collect 2,150,000
Ug shs ( two million one hundred fifty thousand)
Our
expenditure was 1,452,400 Ug shs ( One million four hundred fifty two thousand four
hundred.)
Our source of
funding has always been through the membership contribution and annual subscriptions,
we collected 500,000Ug shs. With in this financial year, we got a small grant
of 650,000 from the well wishers.
We were able to collect
1,000,000 Ug shs (One million shillings) from our film which we sold out to the community
members. We made this film has one of our income generating projects.
Challenges
We faced some challenges which included:-
- Lack of enough money to carry out most projects.
- There is lot
of illiteracy in the community.
